Olive Oil Processing
At Coolmunda, we take great pride in our olive oil processing methods. Our goal is to deliver the highest quality organic olive oil to our customers, and we achieve this through a meticulous and efficient process.
When it comes to harvesting our olives, we ensure that they are shaken from the tree and processed without delay. This helps to preserve the freshness and flavour of the olives, resulting in a superior product.
Our state-of-the-art processing machine is capable of handling 500kg of olives per hour, allowing us to efficiently process large quantities while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Once the olives are harvested, they undergo a thorough washing process to remove any debris or impurities. This ensures that only the finest olives are used in the production of our olive oil.
The washed olives are then funnelled into a hammer mill, where they are crushed to create a paste. This paste is then placed into one of our two heated malaxing tanks, where it undergoes a gentle mixing process for at least one hour.
During the malaxing process, the oil naturally separates from the pulp, allowing us to extract the purest form of olive oil. To further refine the oil, it is then twice filtered through a decanter and separator, ensuring that any remaining impurities are removed.
What sets Coolmunda apart is that we are one of the few farms in the vicinity to have our own oil press of this size. This allows us to offer external processing services for other farms. We provide up-front costing per kilo, ensuring that our clients are never overcharged.
